Close Up Colour

This is another close up painting of the ear area, however this one is in colour.

First of all I did a wash of burnt umber all over, I then started off by building up the colour starting off with the lightest colour, which in this case was a light yellow.

I then decided to add the darker tones which meant adding red and orange to the yellow.

This is the finished painting after finally adding the darkest colours which are the dark reds and green.

I think that this painting looks better than the tonal one, however I still don't think that is works and I don't like it. I think for my next test piece I will try to get the whole head into the piece.
